We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Financial Analyst – Regulatory to join our dynamic Finance/Regulatory team. This role offers an opportunity to provide essential contributions through regulatory accounting activities, including complex reconciliations and insightful financial and statistical analyses. 


Reporting to the regulatory leadership team, including the Director of Regulatory Affairs, and Supervising Accountant – Regulatory, the successful candidate will ensure the accuracy and timeliness of regulatory reporting, analysis, and communications. This role will provide exposure to the complex and evolving regulatory landscape, concerning matters related to the Ontario Energy Board, the Independent Electricity System Operator and the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

What You Will Do

 

  • Assist with the preparation of documents associated with Ontario Energy Board filings and rate applications (on an assigned basis). Contribute to the preparation of thorough, accurate narrative evidence, forecasts, documentation, and analyses in support of corporate positions, leveraging experience from previous filings and applications. 
  • Complete various general ledger and/or OEB reconciliations, and journal entries. Handle complex reconciliations and entries independently.
  • Understand and support the IESO settlement process and annual regulatory filing requirements (e.g. RRR, OEB Scorecard, and IRM). 
  • Design, maintain, and complete financial reports and statistical analyses to support financial results. Contribute to the completion of monthly and year-end financial and regulatory reporting as well as the year-end process, including thoroughly and
  • independently completing working papers and resolving external auditor inquiries.
  • Monitoring operating, capital asset and balance sheet activities and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and directives issued by the Ontario Energy Board and under IFRS while also accommodating
  • internal financial reporting requirements. 
  • Perform other duties related to the above job purpose.

  • Accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a relevant Bachelors’ degree or diploma in Finance/ Accounting/ Business from a recognized post-secondary institution considered an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant, progressive experience. 
  • Proven ability to prepare detailed models and related financial data.
  • Knowledge and progressive experience in a utility environment covering all regulatory, and legislative matters pertaining to the Ontario electricity distribution industry.  
  • Strong analytical and time management skills. Committed to accuracy and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and collaborative cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and proficiency in other MS Office applications and G Suite.
